Introduction<\/strong>. The macro environment\u00a0<\/span>refers to that side of the external environment\u00a0<\/span>that has the capacity to influence the\u00a0<\/span>companies\u2019 activity, while acting indirectly\u00a0<\/span>through their microenvironment<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Additionally, the macro environment\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>influence can be remarked especially\u00a0<\/span>on a long-term perspective, being\u00a0<\/span>sometimes weak and somewhat uncontrollable<\/span>. In this regard,\u00a0<\/span>some examples can be offered, such as: the\u00a0<\/span>unexpected activity of the volcanoes (especially\u00a0<\/span>after being \u201casleep\u201d for a longer period\u00a0<\/span>of time or even after declared \u201cinactive\u201d); the\u00a0<\/span>unexpected devastating and destructive natural\u00a0<\/span>phenomena, such as, typhoons, hurricanes,\u00a0<\/span>tornados, or even floods;<\/span>the unpredicted\u00a0<\/span>droughts; and economic phenomenon having\u00a0<\/span>the capacity of spreading world-wide a\u00a0<\/span>high and unexpected pace, such as the global\u00a0<\/span>financial crises.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Aim of the study<\/strong>. This paper\u00a0\u00a0focuses on the companies\u2019 economic, social and research \u2013 development \u2013 innovation potential in terms of\u00a0<\/span>the macro environment. Moreover, the study takes into considerations the nowadays key elements, perspectives\u00a0<\/span>and challenges concerning this subject. Furthermore, this approach is a theoretical one, chosen due to\u00a0<\/span>the necessity of presenting the essential macro environment\u2019s elements influencing and affecting the companies\u2019\u00a0<\/span>economic, social, cultural, technical, political and legal evolution in the marketplace, while taking\u00a0<\/span>into consideration elements such as competitiveness, open market, consumers\u2019 behaviour, needs, wishes\u00a0<\/span>and desires, infrastructure and research \u2013 development \u2013 innovation potential.\u00a0<\/span>The first part of the paper focuses upon the main characteristics of the key components of the macro\u00a0<\/span>environment, such as, the economic, socio-cultural, technologic, demographic, natural, political and legal\u00a0<\/span>elements. The second part of the scientific study tackles the aspects related to the companies\u2019 potential, in\u00a0<\/span>terms of their economic, social and research \u2013 development \u2013 innovation perspectives.\u00a0<\/span>The conclusions, limitations as well as future implications section presents the basic ideas that result\u00a0<\/span>from this study, as well as the elements that could be improved or even further addressed into the near future.<\/span><\/p>
