In the literature we find that there is a correlation between self-directed learning and some personal\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">traits from the \u201cBig Five\u201d model of personality, including extraversion, agreeableness, openness and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">conscientiousness. Self-directed learning is also influenced by the learning environment, which consists of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">teaching environment, learning environment, technology and administrative support. In a \u201ctraditional\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">learning environment, the teacher defines the learning goals, delivers the knowledge and evaluates the student\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">ability to memorize the specific delivered knowledge. The student\u2019s learning needs are rather seen\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">homogeneous than heterogeneous. In a self-directed learning environment, the student takes the initiative,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px; color: var(--c-contrast-800);\">defines his own strategies of learning specific goals and evaluates his evolution in pursuing a certain learn<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16.604px;\">ing goal.
